MIT Class of 61 reunion

Dean's Place Reunion Dinner

We stayed at our Timeshare in the South side of town and Remy got an exchange at the Wyndymm in town for some of the attendees to the MIT class of 61 re-union. The logistics of picking various persons at the airport, train station and those driving in made the timing of the dinner interesting. But it all worked out. A good time was held by all. See the slide show.

Hoover Dam

The next day we all boarded a bus for a three part tour. The first part of the tour took up to Hoover Dam , where we had a walking tour of the dam that included views of the water piping in and out as well as looking at the power generators.
Next we boarded the bus again an headed a bit up river to a boat launch where we boarded the "Lake Mead Cruises" for a sandwich and ride that took us to the edge of the dam. See slide show: Lake Mead Cruise
After the boat ride we boarded the bus again and headed back to town. Near town we stopped at the "Chocolate Factory". I'm not sure the term factory is appropriated, but it was a place to buy candies and ice cream. It was a nice attraction in that it housed a collection of native catus plants.See the slideshow: Chocolate Factory.

Early the next moring, four of us headed to Angel Park Golf Club for a round of golf. We had a little bit of trouble finding the place. I think I missed the exit and we weren't alert enough to follow the directions from the opposite side. This is an Arnold Palmer designed course. The special we used included a sandwich and golf along with the clubs we rented. See slide show of the Golf Course.

For the final get together of the re-union we took a bus ride to the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. Our trip had a short stop at the Hoover Dam. We were able to walk out on the bridge and get some different views of the Dam than you can get from on it. I added those pictures to end of the slide show above. As we pulled into the stop there we saw a herd of long horned sheep climbing up the side of the hill.
Along the route to the canyon we passed through a Joshua Tree forest. We had a short stop for pictures there. Once we reached the Indian Reservation I took a lot of photos. See the
Slideshow of West Rim.

The package we bought included a walk on the skywalk. The skywalk is a u shaped bridge over the edge of the canyon of a transparent glass 4,000 feet above the canyon floor. We had to change our shoes for cloth slippers so as to not scratch the glass. In addition we couldn't take our cameras out on the overlook, but they had camera persons taking pictures that you could purchase. Remy and the girls negotiated for the group and we ended up with a couple of memory sticks with our photos and some other shots of skywalk during other times of the year. Slideshow of skywalk.
